Help Solve ACJ Phakade's Storm Water Problems

ACJ Phakade Primary School in Nomzamo has been dealing with storm water and sewage flooding problems which caused certain areas of the school to be inaccessible. Strong Schools came alongside the school and enlisted the help of various stakeholders in the community to help with funding for renovations, restore the affected areas and create a safe space for the kitchen.

Unhealthy conditions

These conditions serve as a health hazard for students and exposes them to illness. After heavy rains, the blocked sewage and overflow of storm water always creates a health risk for the learners and teachers.

Feeding scheme kitchen area

The school had to use their hall this winter, because the area around the kitchen containers was flooded with stormwater and sewage because of a bad drainage system and blocked drains.

This area is currently being revamped for the kitchen so that the school can feed their learners .

Get involved!

We need to raise a further R30 000 to complete the next phase of this project and for additional pipes and drainage to be installed for a SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION.

Once there's a fully functioning kitchen, this area that was once restricted and a health hazard, will allow the school to feed most of the kids who come to school hungry. Most of the learners at this school come from underprivileged homes.
